Educator | Early Childhood Educator (m|f|d)

Köln
Full or part-time
Permanent employee
3,400 - 4,450 € per month

We are looking for new colleagues to expand our international team:

  • who doesn’t just care for children, but truly inspires them
  • You turn every day into an experience where children laugh, wonder, and grow – learning by fun included.
  • With your educational superpowers, you recognise children’s needs even before they put them into words.
  • You plan, play, sing, laugh, comfort and reflect with us – and every now and then transform pedagogical chaos into pedagogical brilliance.
  • You enjoy creative portfolio work and love documenting development, because child development is far more exciting than a tax return.
  • You confidently handle parent meetings – even the legendary ones that start with: “But he started it!”

What you should bring with you

  • A recognised qualification as a state-certified early childhood educator, special needs educator, caregiver for people with disabilities, or a degree (Diploma, Bachelor’s or Master’s) in education, social work or a comparable field.
  • You are a bit like Sherlock Holmes – spotting even the smallest developmental steps before they become big milestones.
  • You are a communication pro: you de-escalate conflicts, don’t just survive team meetings but actively shape them, and document children, their adventures and progress so cleverly that later we can say, “Yes – that’s exactly how it was.”
  • You communicate fluently in German or English. (If you speak both: bonus level unlocked! ????)

We offer you an attractive working environment:

  • An attractive working environment: a kindergarten team with more characters than a Marvel movie – and we’re currently casting the next leading role!
  • Work in well-staffed small teams – and yes, we really do have a 100% qualified staff ratio. No wonder the children love us.
  • A multilingual, international team right in the heart of Cologne – feel free to listen in and get to know us via our team audio message.
  • Transparent pay (comparable to the public sector pay scale), plus a mobility allowance (job ticket or fuel voucher) for relaxed commuting, a company pension scheme, and a subsidy for Urban Sports Club – so not only the children, but you too are well looked after.
  • Company bike leasing – escape traffic jams, rain, and bureaucracy!
  • Up to 34 days of vacation, plus Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and Rose Monday off as a gift for celebrating properly.
  • Upgrade your skill level! We offer financial support for language courses and additional training and professional development opportunities.
  • Plenty of room to shape and contribute thanks to flat hierarchies – more co-determination than in some family councils.
  • A family centre that lives, laughs and brings projects to life that sparkle far beyond the kindergarten horizon – almost like a small educational firework.

Sounds like your kind of adventure?
Then apply directly with us! We are looking to fill the position as soon as possible and would love to get to know you.
If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with us at +49-221-466 830-92 (Leonie Schaffrinna, Head of HR) ✨

About us

Raised in Germany. Ready for the World.

rainbowtrekkers Kita gGmbH is an independent provider of multilingual early childhood education centers in Cologne. With heart and high quality standards, our team of more than 50 dedicated staff members helps children grow strong roots and open wings. Across three centers, we care for 160 children aged 1 to 6, who spend their days with us full of laughter, curiosity, and—every now and then—colorful finger paint.

The name rainbowtrekkers brings together two ideas that shape our work: “Rainbow” stands for diversity—children, families, and staff from many cultures, languages, and walks of life. “Trekkers” comes from the English word trekking and symbolizes movement and development. We see education as a shared journey on which children explore the world and grow step by step. Sometimes hopping, sometimes dancing, sometimes taking a little detour—but always learning and laughing together. We provide a sense of security, nurture curiosity, and accompany children from their very first discoveries out into the wider world. In our multilingual everyday life, language becomes a key, diversity is a natural part of who we are, and children are empowered for the future.
